One of Preservation50’s five goals is to learn from the first fifty years of the National Historic Preservation Act to plan preservation’s stronger future. No other document influenced the creation of the NHPA more than With Heritage So Rich. The report was published in 1966. A few months later, when Congress passed the NHPA, nearly every major recommendation in the report was translated into law. Though the report is now out of print, Preservation50, in partnership with the National Trust of Historic Preservation, is pleased to make available during this anniversary year a digital version of the latest print edition (1999) of With Heritage So Rich.
